The GF wants a laptop to plays Sims2 (it'll keep her quiet so who am i to argue). Also as we have wireless internet in the house so if she can surf ebay when she wants that is a plus too, other than that don't need anything flash or fancy, just seen this... will it run it as the price is around what i want to spend. I understand upping the ram to 2gb might help on vista but i can get that locally or if that fails just put xp on it.

2Ghz Turion MK36 Processor
120GB SATA Hard Drive
ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 (X300 Graphics Core)
LG CD/DVD Dual Layer Burner
5 in 1 Card Reader
PCMCIA (Not Xpress Card) Slot
14.1 Inch Screen with gloss shiny Acer Crystal Bright.
Realtek HD Audio
Realtek 100Mbps Ethernet
Atheros Internal Wireless Card
1GB Ram (2x 512mb DDR2 Sticks)
Windows Vista Home Basic

£340

Thanks in advance.

Bought my dad one of these from an online retailer a while back. He has used it a fair bit and loves it. It worked well with my 834PN router with no probs and good download speeds. If you want to game on it then look elsewhere but for a good browsing, office apps type laptop then this is perfect. Haven't run Vista on it though, we got ours with XP and it runs a treat, battery life isn't too bad. Get the latest drivers and it will be fine.

Thanks for your reply, playing the Sims2 is the most important thing for her so i guess that one's out of the running. Unless anyone else can say yes or no as to whether it will run it. Or recommend something out there that will.

Not sure what the Sims2 requires for graphics card support, processor is fine but graphics might struggle. I game on an Acer 5634wlmi, 2Gig DDR2 with Geforce 7300 turbocache ok, but the 8400/8600 in the Dell Vostro 1500 might suit your needs better, but it will cost you more though.
