Laptop for watching DVDs

My friend is looking for a laptop to mainly listen to music and watch DVDs on, the budget is basically average (they cant give me a figure for some reason), so nothing too cheap but also not that extravagent. What are peoples suggestions on this?

Cannot give you any specific new laptop models , but when it comes to quality ,picture and especially sound quality there is quite a few variations . I heard some newer laptops with very poor sound quality ...............tinny sounding speakers .Some of my old Toshibas I bought and sold had the best sound quality I've ever heard .This old Advent 8109 also has superb sounds coming from the speakers..............very loud too .Try and listen to some before purchasing and of course ...........recomendations will go along way .
