Looking for laptop that can run "Wrath of the lich king" for xmas!!

hey guys

im looking for a laptop that i can play wow:WOTLK on. my desktop broke recently when i had it shipped up to scotland where im at uni now, so am looking for something portable to do work on, but basically, im looking to play the new wow expansion :P

ive got a budget of 400-500 pounds but if thats not enough i guess i can beg for more money, but that would be difficult. im looking for something that will run the new expansion well as they have updated their specs for it.

thanks for your help!

i read on another thread about WOTLK, someone suggesting the hp pavillion dv6 with a Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS

is that one good for the job? 50 pounds over budget so i was wondering if u can help me find anything that runs the game well for the minimum of cash :D

EDIT: here are the specs they recommend and minimum, the game had a gfx update with WOTLK

Minimum requirements:

Windows XP (Service Pack 3), Windows Vista (Service Pack 1)

* Intel Pentium 4 1.3 GHz or AMD Athlon XP 1500+
* 512 MB RAM (1GB for Vista users)
* 3D graphics processor with Hardware Transform and Lighting with 32 MB VRAM such as an ATI Radeon 7200 or NVIDIA GeForce 2 class card or better
* DirectX-compatible sound card or motherboard sound capability
* 15 GB free hard drive space

RECOMMENDED

Windows XP (Service Pack 3), Windows Vista (Service Pack 1)

* Dual-core processor, such as the Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 X2
* 1 GB RAM (2 GB for Vista users)
* 3D graphics processor with Vertex and Pixel Shader capability with 128 MB VRAM such as an ATI Radeon X1600 or NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT class card or better
* DirectX-compatible sound card or motherboard sound capability

I've never played wow but i have seen it.

And as it looks like a 10 year old playstation game i wouldn't have thought you need too much gfx power to play it?

The HP you linked to (your not allowed to link to competitors btw ;) ) has an 8400m GS. This is the absolute minimum for gaming on a laptop. Although many would say you should be looking at a 8600m GT as a minimum.

If you could post up the new wow minimum spec it would make things easier for us to reccommend you a laptop.

A laptop with an 8600M GT will handle WoW perfectly.

I have a Dell M1530 with the DDR3 8600, and I have WoW maxed (apart from shadows) and it's a nice constant 60fps really.

Be warned long sessions of WOW will kill your graphics card!!! My wife's HP laptop with a Geforce 7600go processor has been back twice to HP to have new motherboards because the GPU failed both times within 10 months. Her 17in lappie was sat on a twin fan cooler as well!!

My acer broke as well soon as I started to play WOW on it :(

was a 5700Go processor.

1 year guarantee they wanted 250 to fix it I paid it and it broke again after 8 months.

Gaming + laptop = fail

Played wow using a vostro 1000!! thats a low low spec gpu however i was at lowest settings. Played it for months and not a problem. You take your luck when playing games on laptops - Games have always been the best stress test for all components.

Thinking of getting a gaming laptop also and dell 1530 or acer 5930G boh can be had or £600

Wow will run fine and any core 2 duo cpu, integrated x3100 intel gfx and above and 1gb ram ( better with 2gb however ) so anything better will be ok.

Be warned though that other games are far more demanding and the x3100 wont hack anything better than stuff like UT2004 and the like smoothly.

This.

I've got a Dell Vostro 1510 that cost £300. Integrated Intel graphics, runs WoW at 1440x900 fine. Had something like 17fps idling in Shattrath last time I played (A few months ago).
