Laptop gfx card problems

SO I was given 3 ******** laptops, which all contain ATI Radeon Mobility 1400x in each.
1 Laptop works 100% fine, but the other 2 dont. They work ok, until I install the drivers, then I see dots on the screen that build up, and the laptop eventally gives me the blue screen of death!

Any idea why it is doing this? I tried reformatting, and reinstalling drivers but same problem..

Could be but...

I decided to take the good laptop gfx card, and put it into a "broken" one.. Everything works fine, drivers and all.
Must be a gfx card problem and 2 cards are naffed!

But why when I install drivers does it only happen? Strange

Points to a faulty graphics card then. The vram is most likely onboard the video board and gets transferred with the card.
