Laptop got me baffeled

Hi all i have a friends Eeepc 1011px running windows 7 starter, the only thing i can type on it is the shortcuts, the keys will not display any characters at all, if im in word pressing a "i" higlights italics for instance, if i open a web page "w" shuts it down, whats going on any one had thisd problem before?, in device manager there is no actual driver listed only the keyboard filter which i have updated from the asus website, HELP PLEASE!!

Sounds like the control key is stuck down. Has it been dropped/abused/spilt on.

interesting, yes i had to replace the screen after it got walked on, poss damaged the key as well? ill take a look, many thanks for the info
