Hey all,

Got myself a (pretty old) Toshiba A100. Upgraded everything I can get my hands on, 4gb ram (started at 512mb), 200gb hdd (started at 60gb) etc.

It runs Windows 7 fine, BUT

It gets so hot on the fan and underneath suction fan, but the fan doesn't turn on when it should. I want it on 100% all the time (it's not too loud anyway). Instead it gets super hot then turns on for 2-3 seconds.

Any idea how I can control the fan? Bios option is greyed out but shows readings..

Thanks a lot in advance,

S

Try installing FanSpeed, it's a great and popular program around here to look at temperatures and speeds of the fans and can be used to control the RPM of the fans.
However it might not pick up on your fan as it has trouble controlling laptop fans sometimes! Give it a go though! :)
