Laptop GPU Goosed ?

Fixing a laptop for someone, A Compaq Presario v650

It seems to boot up (Lights for CPU and Wi-Fi are normal) but no display.

Tried to output the display to a monitor through VGA, Nothing!

Could the onboard GPU be fried ?

It's proving impossible to find a replacement MOBO, Any suggestions ?

yes they had an issue, if its less than 2 year old you might be eligible for a free repair, try contacting hp customer services.

I thought that was only on the Pavilion DV series? HP should do this more often, there's plenty of hp laptops about with serious design faults - the NX6110 for example.
