Hi,

Which of these would be a better graphics card for playing games like Sup Com and COD2 etc?

ATI x1600

or

512MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7950 GTX

Thanks

Ok thanks for that. Now here is the thing. I want a gaming laptop to take to the US with me, or buy one there. Now to get a Dell laptop is gonna be around £1700 in the US or here. But I can get a macbook pro with 2gb ram and a x1600 in the US for 1400 odd quid.

Is its still worth going for the Dell laptop?

The 7950 is miles ahead in terms of performance, but battery life will suffer. Depends what your priorities are, really - a compromise would be an 8600GT, if you can find one.

Usually can't unless it has MXM. Even then you have limitations on battery, power supply and cooling ability of the built in VGA cooling solution.

If you want a gaming machine, buy a desktop. Even a MATX in a cube is a better investment.

Not with great difficulty considering how expensive they are, the 8600gt mobile GPU is pretty good mind.

You always could (we are talking about "cards" here), but I've not seen any retailers selling them. Usually Nvidia\ATI sell to OEMs only.

Ok well would prefer to get the graphics preinstall if possible. And a shuttle desktop wouldn't suit my needs as i'll be taking this to interviews with me to show my portfolio etc.

How does the new ATI X2300 compare to the 7950?

Low-end. Mobile X1900 is comparable to the Geforce 7950.
