currently considering getting a laptop so I can play GW2 on the move. I have no other real need for a laptop, it would just be easier than carting my desktop to LAN partys.

I was considering the samsung 355V5C here:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=LT-132-SA&groupid=959&catid=1828&subcat=

however, I have found a deal on a very well known brand website, for a laptop, around £600 (a whopping £400 off until the 22nd) with the following core specs:
i7-3612QM (2.10GHz)
4GB 1600mhz
7670m 1GB
1080p, 15.6" screen

the things I need advice on are:
would GW2 benefit more from the i7, having more CPU grunt, or the 7670 being able to crossfire with the CPU in the samsung

the samsung screen is only 1376x768, opposed to the 1920x1200 of the *OTHER* brand, obviously this is more desirable, but would the 1gb frame buffer be sufficient for this?

obviously, if neither of these gave me a satisfying GW experience, I would inevitabley end up not using it and taking my desktop anyway, so rather than waste my money, I would rather wait until around new year and spend a bit more ( £900-£1k) to get something that meets my needs.

Thanks for any input, I'm really not sure what to do, the i7 seems a bit too good a deal to pass up if it's up to the job.

No idea about that GPU but GW2 runs very very well on my GTX580m and the 670m/675m is just a rebranded 580m I believe.

I can run it maxed out at 1080p (no FSAA as I don't really notice it at 1080p in a 17"screen)

What is the "other" brand? It might have a decent spec but for £600 I doubt the quality of the build, battery, speakers etc will be up to much.

it's probably the best known computer manufacturer in the world, especially in the business world, but I didn't want to mention the name as it could be considered a competitor. their monitors use the same panels as the hazro 2560x screens, but cost more ;)

I wouldn't go with the Samsung for GW2. GW2 is a MMO game, MMO's require lots of CPU power, which the Samsung doesn't have when compared to the i7.

My i5 2500k with gtx460 can run maxed out but my other PC which also has a GTX460 but a Core 2 Duo can barely run it at med. The CPU on MMO's such as GW2 makes somewhat more of a difference than the GPU

Personally, if you could wait, wait till you get a bit more money to pick yourself up an i7-3610QM as well as a high end GPU such as the Nvidia 675M or AMD's 7970m

roughavoc: thanks for confirming, I was thinking it was more likely to be CPU bound, but unsure!

B-Cool: thanks, that is exactly the sort of price range I was trying to get an idea about, very useful to know!
