Hi folks,
I'm planning on upgrading my M1710's hard drive from a 5200 WD Scorpio Blue to the 7200 WD Scorpio Black shown here:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-225-WD&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=896
Question is, has anyone elso done this and noticed any performance increase as a result of the 7200 speed? Battery life isn't really of any concern as the laptop is hardly used on the go, it's my gaming machine (hence the upgrade question)
I've just splashed some cash and fitted a 7950GTX and am now looking at the hard drive.
Also, I've used Partition magic for hard drive upgrades on my past desktops (plug in new hard drive, transfer data/partition set up to new --> install new drive) Will this also work with a new laptop hard drive if I install it in a caddy and plug it in via USB?
Thanks for any advice offered
Rob
