Maybe a pointless observation, or maybe a good reminder for all your laptop users! Was worrying as under 100% load my laptop was running at 70C. Switched it off and used a very powerful vacuum on all vents. Temperatures back down to 50C on load, not bad!

Will have to give that a try with my wife laptop. Seen it hit over 90c under load!!! Its a barton cpu so it runs very hot anyway. Has shut down a couple of times under stress tests due to heat. Pressume its best to leave it plugged in but switched off so that its earthed? hear horror stories regarding hoovers and static!!!

I unplugged everything, took out the battery and unscrewed the covers for RAM and HD, was surprised at how much dust had accumulated inside, at the moment playing Football Manager 2007, watching Freeview and browsing internet, all off 2 screens on this one laptop, and CPU sitting at 45C, HD 29C and RAM 39C.

My friend picked up a dirt cheap laptop on ebay..

And he said that after 30 mins the plastic started melting on the bottem of the laptop :X

I never knew a laptop could get so hot? :P
