Laptop hell...overheating and shutting down HELL. help please.

Hi all. I currently have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo d laptop. 9700 radeon gig ram and pentium 4 ect. I did have the amd version a year ago but got this on insurance after it got wet

any how...about 6months ago the crashing and over heating got ontop of me and drove me crazy..so i sent it back under warrenty..but ever since i got it back its the same and iv had about enough..but by now i think that it will be out of warrenty..any ideas on what too do? this is meant 2 be a laptop that dosent work on my lap because it overheats @ an insanse speed. Also i cant use it on a flat surface with the blood back of it rased 2 allow more air flow because it still overheats. Any ideas guys it getting me down, i just lost about 3hrs worth of work

any ideas on what to do would be awsome..thankz again..Adam

take it to bits and put some as5 on the heatsinks?

This is very interesting as my mate has a laptop which sounds the same spec and he too gets bad overheating problems - so much so that he has a huge fan blowing air underneath it. Its physically hot to touch, you couldnt walk around holding the thing.

You could try and put AS5 on the heatsinks but im not sure its going to make a great deal of difference. Personally I would change it for another laptop if nothing changed since you sent it back under warranty.

thing is tho i down know how warrentys work? its like i sent it back under warrenty 2 get it fixed form overheating but its still not solved..its a £1000 pound laptop and its not worth all the crashing.but now its out of warrenty

Check to see if the fan or intake is blocked with dust, it happens a lot.

the warranty works for the duration you bought it for,however many times you send it back.you can also buy extensions for it.

i suggest not taking it apart,but to find out what they actually fixed next time-through customer support.And to lay as many complaints about the thing as possible.
They probably just fiddled with bios settings.

Also if the warranty is a good one,consider turning the heaters on and doing dual prime95 untill it blows proper.Or a couple of seconds in the microwave should fix it.-then send it back asking for one that doesnt overheat.

Otherwise what about better ventilation and a laptop cooler,blowing air onto the underneath

it voids the warrenty! and you need quality screwdrivers plus some confidence to pull apart and replace a lappy.They dont make em like they use to you know

Get a blast of air through it, got a compressor or similar does the trick great for me

yea best to check all vents are free of dust first.

Taking it apart is the last resort.

if its the same problem as you had during the warranty, so long as the fault was reported in the warranty period, theyre obliged to honour it ... obviously, if its a different fault, theyre not
