Hi,

Looking in the manual of my laptop Acer 1642 It says that I have WPAN bluetooth and on the laptop itself I have a button which should Light up when pressed so when I press it I get nothing and a message saying "No Device"

So is there anyway I can check if its installed or not? cant see anything in device manager.

cheers

Hi, it looks like that maybe the laptop was done with different specs and the manual is mentioning it as it is an option to have it fitted to the laptop, when in actual fact it is not enabled, as it is not installed the hardware.

But why don't you look at the mobo driver CD which came with the laptop, see if there is a bluetooth driver on it and install it and see if it finds any device. My Dell latitude is like that, the book mentions bluetooth, but the bluetooth card is not installed in mine and the bluetooth don't work.

Very common for manufactures to do 1 book for a few models.

My mate has an Acer with bluetooth and I went round one day, all he did was turn on the bluetooth on the phone and then searched for devices on the laptop. Are you turning on the bluetooth on the laptop while you have like a phone with bluetooth turned on? If so, the laptop should detect the phone.

Thanks,

I found some Bluetooth software on the CD Installed it and windows pop ups kept saying bluetooth was found, bluetooth Highquality was found and even in device manager I get Bluetooth Com port 5 and 6 appear aswell as Bluetooth Bus enumerator appear. But it says no device can be found.

Thanks anyway,
