Hi,

I'm looking to buy a 17" laptop and need a little advice. My budget is £600-£800. Primarily i tend to use it as a wireless machine around the house and it will function as a backup to my desktop PC.

Portability is not a huge concern as i have a seperate laptop to use for work. I would want to store plenty of videos, photos and will use it for playing games (esp. Football Manager). I would want a decent battery life though so i'm not constantly trailing a power cable.

The only laptop i have considered so far is the Dell Inspiron 1720-T8300. I was tempted by the M1530s but have been put off by the 15.4" screen - i'm a little concerned i may struggle to play games without using a very high resolution.

Any help is welcome.

Thanks,

Matt

Dell outlet £636.78

XPS M1710 Core 2 Duo Processor T7200 (2.0 GHz, 4 MB L2 cache, 667 MHz FSB
English - Vista Home Premium
2048MB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM (2x1024)
256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS
160GB 5400 RPM SATA RAID 1

only a 256mb 7900GS but as long as its not smt like Crysis you should be alright :D

2 hours battery life = non gaming
about 45 minutes battery life = intensive gaming

well i was gonna say "you have to move fast to get deals on the outlet!"

but the deal is still on there lol..

just filter the laptops by 17" screen size and scroll down to the second one that says " Inspiron XPS M1710
