Laptop Intel Core i3 + 4GB Memory Question

Would an Intel Core i3 + 4GB Memory laptop be reasonably quick for most common laptop tasks, i.e. Office and browsing.

What would be better, Intel Core i3 + 8GB Memory or Intel Core i5 + 4GB memory. I.e. is there more bang for buck improving the processor or adding more memory.

All thoughts welcome.

Either will be fine for the required tasks. If the money was the same between the two configurations, I'd go with the i5 as RAM is much easier to upgrade than a CPU.
