Hi

Ive got a laptop (fairly old now) that seems to be on the way out.

Its an Evesham Voyager C720 Plus.

Spec is as follows;

CPU: 2.13GHz processor (Pentium M i think)
RAM: 2GB (i upgraded it myself from 1GB)
GFX: Nvidia 7800GTX GO
Screen: 1680 x 1050

Theres a few problems with it.

Everynow and then, it will just freeze completely (cant even move the cursor) and then after about 1 min, it will restart itself.
Sometimes the screen goes completely black and then restarts after a few mins.
Very occasionally, when i turn it on, it will start up but the screen will be black and it will just stay there forever. One time i spent hours, turning it off and on, over and over again, and eventually it turned on. It said some stuff about windows is recovering from an error etc etc.
The rear exhaust fan 99% of the time, runs at idle speed for about 2 seconds, then it changes to fairly high speed for about 4 seconds, then goes back to idle speed and just loops and loops over and over and over again.

Any ideas whats wrong? haha

Otherwise im gonna need a new laptop.

First question:
What graphics card nowadays is comparable to a 7800GTX. The only game i ever play is Command and Conquer 3, so i just want a laptop that is capable of playing that, at preferably high settings. (This laptop atm can play it at ultra high with AA on full.)

Second question:
I don't want to spend a fortune, so what do you guys recommend?

Thanks in advance.

If you dare, a lot of problems can be solved by opening up the thing and giving any heatsinks etc a good blast of air, as they may well be all clogged with dust.

I like Dells, I like cheap refurb Dells with 3 years warranty even more :D

I will definitely give that a go, but it doesnt seem to be overheating or anything. Sometimes it will run a whole day and othertimes it will run for 5 mins...

Just out of interest, what is the "512MB ATI Mobility RADEON HD 4570" like? The prices seem to get to around £700 before they jump to anything better than that card :(
