laptop issue. UAC prompt issue - cant backup or restore

Hi guys.

mate asked to have a look at his win7 laptop that is running like a dog.

problem i have is that every time i try to backup, system restore etc i hit a AUC prompt then when i click yes nothing happens. seems like a timeout.

i cant even disable UAC as if i try it prompts for UAC yes and nothing happens.

bloody UAC is so annoying. any ideas? running out of time to get this done. i need a way to backup this machine before i can wipe it and reinstall

EDIT: - doesnt matter now as im wiping and reinstalling. very odd UAC problem though

i dont have the adaptors for that.

at the moment im just trying to copy his data to a USB HDD and am going to wipe it.

i cant create partitions or do a proper backup due to UAC problems. i cant even get in the reg to turn off UAC. bloody annoying.

this copying is taking ages too. been at it since 8am to backup 50GB of data! eek. so tempted to throw it down the stairs once copied!
