Laptop issue

A neighbour of mine asked me to look at his Lenovo T450S thinkpad as its failing to load windows. When booting up it hangs on the windows loading screen and sits there.

When you try repair it starts to load windows files and again hangs. I've tried starting in safe mode but hangs on CLASSPNP.sys. I've tried to boot using my win 7 cd and it starts to load windows files and again hangs..

He said he ran a Windows update and there was a Lenovo bios update too. No matter what I try I can seem to get system to boot into windows.

Any ideas ?

Reset bios to defaults or maybe try reflash bios incase this failed ?

tried resetting Bios settings but still nothing and I cant seem to get a hold of the bios to reflash.

Try the bootable diagnostics tool. https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/lenovodiagnosticsolutions

I've had a similar issue with a HP laptop and it turns out that the HDD is buggered.

My initial thought was that it was the hard drive and it was just coincidence that he thought he'd botched the bios. I'll give it a try. Cheers topgun.
