Behind you... Naked!
Ok, I have posted a similar issue on here, but I have now got a few steps further, however, this is one really annoying issue...

First off, this does exactly the same no matter what distro I use, but I am currently using KUBUNTU 8.4

Now, if I have both the power and my track-ball connected, I have no problems, however if I have both the Track-Ball and the power disconnected, as soon as I try to log-in, the screen goes blank.

If I have either the power disconnected, or the TrackBall disconnected, then I can log in, but then it hangs just as the background appears and the mouse turns into an arrow ( From the X )

I need to have both connected for me to actualyl get the LapTop to fully boot onto the desktop???

WHY?

At this time, I am using the downloaded ATI drivers that were offered to me by the ubuntu updates rather than actually installing the Downloaded ones, and I am having very good success with compiz and it rarely crashes... Only time it crashes every time, is when I try to change the Minimise window effect... It crashes needing an X restart but the change works great and I can use the new effect just fine??? - small price to pay I suppose, but an irritating one none the less.

My LapTop is an Acer Aspire 1680 with the ATI Radeon 9700 Mobility Graphics ( 64MB Dedicated )

Any clues?

Yes for the ATI I have yes.

For the Touchpad, no I have not.
I have downloaded 3 different touchpad drivers and 2 of them cripple the touchpad completely and the other does nothing.
