I have an ASUS 6920g and it keeps crashing (turning itself off/on)

I figured it might be the HDD as it's old so i replaced it with an SSD but i kept having the same issue.

I think the CMOS battery has gone as it never keeps the time (been like this for longer than I've had the crashing problem though) but i don't think this is the problem.

I replaced the battery a while ago as it would not hold charge, to eliminate this being the problem i have tried it with the battery out as well.

I'm stuck at this point as what to try next to find out what the problem is, any suggestions for me? :)

have you checked event viewer to see if anything is in there which could help?

is it possible that its overheating at all?

when putting in the SSD did you clone the HDD or a clean install the OS?

if you have any overclocks on the cpu\gpu it night be worth removing for the time being.

might also be worth doing memtest to check the ram as well.

I checked the temps and they looked ok.

I probably have peaked at event viewer but it's been a while since i tried to get it working, thought i'd give it another go before i scrapped it. I'll have a look through it.

It was a fresh install not a clone, i also have installed a backup that i made of the original install (dvd backup)

Theres no overclocks on it to remove.

I Haven't tried memtest yet, good shout though.

I have however just found this YouTube video, and i have removed ASUS software/reinstalled windows on it a few times so it might even be that simple!

I'll run the suggested tests and let you know, probably won't be until tomorrow when i get home from work though, thanks for the help!

Passed Memetest a few times

Doesn't crash in safe mode

only crashes when in windows

No idea what i'm looking at in event viewer.

Checked temps again but it is only showing the internal temp (using HWMonitor) so it could be the CPU/GPU overheating i guess. can anyone suggest a decent program to check temps with?
