Laptop keeps dropping connection.

do you have anything else connected to it, and if you do are those things having issues.

if it has them, have you checked the router logs for any issues ?

The connection doesn't seem all that reliable.

With 52930 uncorrectable RS errors.

RS Uncorrectable Errors

The number of Reed-Solomon code words that had uncorrectable errors. Reed-Soloman is a method of Forward Error Correction. Uncorrectable Errors are those that are too severe to be corrected by FEC.

Sounds bad to me.

Then there's 197/1020 HEC errors
HEC Errors - Header Error Check/Correction

Count of HEC Errors. HEC is a type of CRC error check which has been performed on the header of an ATM cell, but 1 bit errors can be corrected. This count is usually where HECs have been uncorrected and have been discarded.

If these errors are too high within a short period of time it will slow throughput... and could even lead to connection instability - See Out Of Cell Delineation.

Again doesn't sound too encouraging. I can't tell the uptime though.

Your SNR is lowish too but shouldnt be a problem on a decent line.

But what hasn't been covered is whether these disconnections are the internet or the laptop.

try it in the test socket.

make sure you have NOTHING else connected the sky HD box's can cause issues..

if it still has issues call your ISP

if they are with talktalk dont bother jsut cry.

I am using the test socket, its the only phone point in the house. (new istalled line).

Only modem/router & phone connected to the phone line.

I will get the wife to use my kids laptop to see if she still gets the same problem.

Uptime is about 20 days.

I didn't find my tp-link 961N very good with my line when compared with my Broadcom
Chipsetted netgear dg834gt. The tp-link would connect slower, have more errors, a lower SNR, would drop connection and have trouble reconnecting. It also wouldn't report the link uptime or disconnections. Cheap modem/router us cheap I suppose.

I picked up a spare dg384gt off eBay for £14 as the more recent broadcom modems are expensive.

Have you estimated your uptime based on how long you've had the modem connected or is that actual time reported by the modem?

Only 2GB upload and some MB downloaded in the stats. Not sure what that represents.
