Laptop keyboard, arrow keys in games

Bit of a long shot but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Any games I play on my Acer Aspire laptop I cant use the key combination LEFT, UP and another key

e.g. LEFT + UP + A to fire diagonally up and left

So in a game of Contra rom (I own it on NES too) I cant shoot left and up. Its weird as it works fine RIGHT + UP + A.

Seems to be the case in a lot of games not just roms. Its not the Synaptic mousepad settings interferring or a keyboard setting I've found. If I use an external keyboard its fine.

You'll have to plug in another keyboard to over come this. It's a hardware limitation of the specific keyboard your laptop has built in.

Or hold down 3 keys and it locks the whole keyboard.

Toca touring cars on 4 player split screen was great fun for this - wait until your mates are going around a corner and you were on a straight and then hold UP, LEFT & RIGHT. "beep, beep, beep" and they all go into the wall!
