Before you think think this is a strange question I'll preface it with I'm new to the UK.

Do most laptops here come with UK keyboards or US keyboards? I always thought all laptops sold here had UK keyboards with the £ symbol but looking online most retailers have pictures with US keyboards, is this just lazy practise and using stock images provided by USA head offices or do a lot of laptops come with US keyboards?

Also if it is the latter what are my chances of affecting resale selling my Austrlian laptop without a pound sign here so I can then upgrade my laptop? Ie am I better to source a UK keyboard before trying to sell it?

Most keyboards are UK layout but you will get a lot with US layouts on other retailers sites. Sometimes they're just a stock photo, often not, best to read descriptions and reviews to be sure.

If I got sent a US keyboard it'd be going straight back because besides the £ they're not even a QWERTY layout.

Some people don't mind and if you have a mech keyboard and are into changing key caps it doesn't matter I guess.

UK keyboards are preferred in the UK though and on a laptop that is what I'd expect (again though some people aren't that bothered)

Bigger issue is ANSI vs ISO in my opinion, I prefer the big Return key and associated layout. If a keyboard has the apostrophe and @ swapped, etc, I tend to just set it up as a UK layout and use it without looking TBH.

I suppose lots of "normal" users get hung up on the key printing but I just ignore it
