Any idea how to fix laptop keys? Is it as simple as prising them away from the keyboard and cleaning, or are they most likely dead for good if they don't work at all?

Want to upgrade my old laptop to XP and get it hooked into the wireless network, but that's only worth doing if I can fix the keys.

Depends on the laptop but on most you can lift the keyboard and then see if there is anything underneath it. Some manufacturers have very helpful and detailed manuals to do so (Dell being one), others rely more on you just bodging it. :)

Depends what's actually wrong with them (yes I know they are not working :p )

My wife's work had their laptop replacement program dictated by when the delete keys stopped working on them. Apperently they were directly above the hottest part of the pc and therefore they were the first to go. We are talking hundreds of laptops here - mind you, they were 3 or 4 year's old
