Laptop left finger pad button unresponsive - Advice?

Just bought a Samsung N220 and have been very happy with it. However we've just noticed that the left pad button doesn't work very well. If I push it down lightly so I hear a click nothing happens. Basically I have to exert more force than normal, kind of stab it down, to get it to respond, plus it feels kind of spongy, not like the right button which feels more clicky.

Anybody got any advice on what we should do? It kind of works I suppose but will it get worse? Is there a way to fix something like this easily by opening it up? Or would that be daft and should I just contact Samsung? And if that's the case does anyone have any experience of their customer service? Urghhh, this is annoying!:(

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you've just bought it can't you return it to the store rather than contacting Samsung? If it's within 30 days you should be able to get a replacement I would think, no point trying to bodge it yourself and ruining the warranty this early on.
