Hey guys, I've just noticed a problem when I hook my laptop up to an external monitor and close the lid.

When I do this, my download/network performance grinds to a total halt. I've disabled all the power management settings I can find/think of and now I'm totally stumped.

The laptop in question is a Sony Vaio VPCEB3C5E with an Atheros wlan card.

Any help appreciated!

What a coincidence! I have the exact same model with the same problem. Used to leave the lid closed overnight when downloading stuff only to come back and discover it had barely progressed. Looking forward to a solution as well

Signal according to Windows 7 still remains at full strength though, it's extremely odd. I've just resorted to leaving my laptop lid up even when connected to my external monitor.

Strange!

Dude, near identical laptop, identical problem, VPCEB1C5E here. Signal says it;s got it all, reality proves otherwise. The lid now stays open when it's tucked under the desk.

Barmy thing is, I'm sure for the last 6 months it hasn't done this? and I don't think any drivers have been updated on it either
