I have an HP Pavilion DV5 laptop, its only a couple of months old. I estimate it's had about 20 charges so far, all of which I let the battery drain to ~5% before charging as you should do.
But I left it off for a couple of weeks and noticed the battery was flat when I turned it on again. I was positive that it was fully charged before so I decided to do a test. I charged it back to full again and left it off for a week, only to find it on 40% battery.
It is definitely getting turned off property and not in sleep mode etc. Any idea what could be going on here?
