Laptop Lowdown

I have been given the task of finding a friend a laptop for less than a grand.

Shes going to be using it for general work and internet stuff so i dont actually think i need to spend anywhere near a grand but then again i dont actually know that much about laptops anymore.

So who's worth looking at and who are the manufacturers i need to stay clear of?

It'll probably be high street retailers too so generally stuff thats available from there.

Spec would depend on what use she requires it for, for example, the spec above would be no good for gaming, but fine for internet.
