i have a 2GB 677mhz DDR2 stick of ram in my laptop

but it is only running at 533mhz

cpu-z says its running at a fsb x 2 ratio so 133 x 2 = 266mhz

so double data rate ram, 266 x 2 = 533mhz

how can i get my laptop to work at the full speed its capable of?

by the way i have a intel celeron 530 processor if that helps.

Thanks.

P.S - My laptop bios doesn't support any ram timing/cpu/fsb speed changing unfortunately :(

The CPU is on a quad pumped 133MHz FSB (ie 533MHz). As the RAM connects via this to the CPU there's no point running the RAM at anything faster than 533MHz.

hmm i thought that, but this is what the official laptop manual says ...

Supports dual-channel memory,
Supports up to 4 GB of system RAM,
PC2-5300, 667-MHz, DDR2.

???

i've decided to revive this thread, my other laptop has a core duo t2250 with a FSB of 533mhz and its ram is running at 333.5mhz x 2 = 677mhz!

so whats wrong, its not my mbrd either ... it must be a setting, ive even tried resetting bios to defaults and still nothing :(
