At the moment my Dell laptop has 16GB DDR4 3200 MHz but thinking about upgrading to 32GB 3200 MHz
Looking at these below

Is there any performance difference between these ive been looking at ?

Kingston FURY Impact 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) 3200MHz DDR4 CL20 Laptop Memory Kit of 2 KF432S20IBK2/32

Corsair Vengeance SODIMM 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3200MHz C22 Memory for Laptop/Notebooks - Black

Unless you're working with massive images in RAW format 16GB should be plenty.

Open up control panel task manager open up your photo editing app open a couple of the biggest images you would normally have open and observe how much RAM is being used

I’m with you, I have 16gigs of RAM in my laptop and I’m considering upgrading to 32.

Either RAM kit should be fine but I’d probably go for the Kingston with the slightly lower CAS latency.

I would suggest you do a BIOS update first tho.
I was going to upgrade my laptop but buying extra memory is better option i think and cheaper . I did go for the Corsair Vengeance SODIMM 32GB

Dell has models within its lineup that have soldered memory and you need to look at the specs to see exactly what the configuration is.

Often, there is one soldered DIMM and one physical SODIMM slot with midrange laptops but, again, it depends.

You can have a soldered 8gig module and add a 16 or 32gig SODIMM module to the motherboard and it will work fine but it won’t be in dual channel mode and it will downclock to the lowest common RAM speed.

I’ve run mixed memory for years on my laptops and even exceeded the specified maximum RAM module size and it’s fine.

A lot of entry level laptops only have soldered RAM and no SODIMM slot so check first.
