Laptop memory

I currently have an ASUS F3Sseries laptop, it has 2GB of memory (2x1GB) I'm presuming this will be dual channel?

I have a 2GB MB DDR 2 SODIMM kingstom laptop memory which i was considering putting in the laptop, removing one of the 1GB sticks and replacing with the 2GB stick. Is this a good idea, even if the 1GB sticks are dual channel?

You don't get dual channel memory.

Get motherboards with dual memory lanes.

Dual channel only works if both of the sticks are the same amount, so you would have more memory but lost the dual channel function.
You would need to have 2x2gb in order to restore the dual channel system.
