Basically, I have this laptop I use for college work and such but suddenly last night the bottom of the screen started flickering in a weird way. Haven't done anything to it and I haven't dropped it either.

So I really don't know what's up with it. What could I do to fix it :| ? Or is it RIP

Here's a video of how it looks like

Any opinions?

It's not RIP.

It's likely to be either the LCD panel or the inverter which you can usually buy. Sometimes the panel comes with an inverter sometimes they don't. There are ways to test individual bits (look at youtube videos) but you also need to decide whether buying replacements parts is worthwhile or you should just put that money into a new one.

Try searching for replacement panels/inverters for your model and see how much they cost. They can be a bit fiddly to replace but not difficult. Would also suggest before you order that you dismantle the old one to get the panel specific details to make sure it is the right one. The same make/model of a laptop may have different panels in them !

Look at videos of how to take your laptop apart. If you aren't happy taking it apart then you need to find someone who is or buy a new one !
