Anybody had any experience of this? I haven't had chance to look at it yet but was wondering if ther was a possiblity of driver error? The individual who owns the laptop is simply using a mouse with it in the meantime.

Mouse buttons on trackpads can wear out after a couple of years, the physical switch contact becomes worn.

Or possibly something very silly like a lock button?

A friend thought he'd broken his laptop the other day when his touchpad wouldn't work, turns out he had just pressed a button which locked the touchpad.

Sorry, it sounds simple but sometimes it's the simple things that are overlooked.

Unfortunately I have told the owner I cannot look at the laptop until Saturday and so i don't know exactly what the problem might be. Shall take all of your suggestions under advisement though. Thank you.
