I got called out to a laptop where the user was installing a printer and got to a stage where it asked her to shut down and restart the machine, which she did.

When it starts up now, it lets our 2 short beeps and one long one, then continues to load Windows, but nothing ever displays on the screen. No BIOS info, no loading screens, nothing.

Too the thing to bits to see if any loose wires or connectors, but nothing obvious.

Any thoughts? Where can she get it repaired? It is out of warranty by just under a month.

2 Short + 1 Long is a graphics adapter problem. Have you tried mashing the del / f2 keys during the boot phase when you get no video on screen and seeing it eventually wakes up into the BIOS? Can't really suggest anything other than that unfortunately, the video could be the problem but I'm guessing it's going to be onboard graphics being a laptop. You could try resetting the BIOS in case she's tells fibs and did something to a setting in the BIOS, and now it's having issues. As the computer might start up, beep with the 2 short/1 long and restart with default factory bios settings. If you reset the CMOS however, it *may* correct itself.

Is a HP Pavillion Dv6045nr

I tried hitting all the keys as it starts up, but the beep codes indicate something physically wrong I thought?

Looked the beep code up and it says: "Video error - Reseat card and try again"

Errr. laptop?

I am guessing even plugging a monitor in the back of it wouldnt help?
