laptop not booting

hi i have a dell laptop vostro 1000 it will not pass the boot screen and will not go into the bios or into the boot menu i have removed the battery but still no luck

it might be the hard drive causing it to hang on post, its worth taking it out.

i took the hardrive out and put a new hard drive in it but still the same

So you you get the dell logo/post screen and it just hangs?

My father in law had the same model and similar problem with his Vostro 1000.

He gave it to me as I work in IT and after several hours trying everything I know, I came to the conclusion it was the onboard graphics had gone faulty.Being onboard gfx meant it was the end of the road on a cheap laptop and far cheaper to get a new laptop instead of a repair

Was only 18 months old as well :mad:

you can also press f12 on start up and run the dell diagnostics.
