Laptop not picking up signal from router

Had 50mb installed a couple of weeks ago from VM, connected the iMac via ethernet cable and had the laptop running wireless. The laptop has suddenly stopped discovering my home network (despite the Netgear Wireless N router supplied by VM only being 5 feet away), and I haven't a clue how to resolve the issue.

It's picking up networks from (presumably) next door, just not mine.

Any ideas?

I had this problem with my gf laptop, it all of a sudden wouldnt detect the wifi but would detect others in the street. If i remember correctly i rebooted the router and set up a new wireless connection - im not sure which was the solution as i did them both but it worked.
