Laptop or similar for travelling

I'm going on an extended road trip and was wondering if there are laptops that are rugged that can be carried around without fear of damage. I want something fairly small but not the size of a mobile phone ... it will be used solely for connection to the internet, skype, emails etc etc ... so must have good connectivity. Any suggestions :)
 
i just bought one of these to take traveling

havnt opened the box yet (will do tonight after work) but from the research i have done, this is the one to have
 
let me know your thoughts after you've opened it up .... I was looking for one of those impact proof, dust proof, water resistant types but heck their around £3000 !!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek:

it depends how rugged you want them to be. If you need proper all-terrain laptops, a standard laptop won't cut it. If you just need a surdy business laptop, get one the two acers or if you have the cash, a proper business laptop (built for purpose). And if you do need some good shock protection for transportation, get a good hard case with lots of padding, and a SSD drive.

very impressed with it

build quality is really good, screen is good

echo everything that everyone else has said

only negative is the sound but apart from that first impressions are very high
