hi

my dell latitude D620 seems to be getting very very very hot. much hotter than it ever used too. mainly at the bottom of the front left and back middle. its causing it to freeze etc.

can still hear the fan spinning fast when it gets hot. took the keyboard up to check it wasnt dusty inside or anything but it seemed fine :/

any other ideas to what could be causing this ? its got me baffled and is making the laptop partly unusable

cheers

Things you can do:
Compressed air in vents and in fan
Replace thermal paste on CPU and GPU (or thermal pads)
Buy a laptop cooler

Best you can probably expect though would be a 5 degree celcius drop in temps. Mine did.

definately blocked vents then by the sounds of it, dust and stuff tends to form a carpet up against the heatsink, blowing it back with compressed air can help but if its bad it will just clog the fan up, its literally like furballs, so it might need removing if bad, this is worst case scenario of course.

going to crack it open and take a look later i think! if i dont report back then ive slipped with the screwdriver and took something important out :p

well that was fun.....

superglue holding parts of my laptop together now lol. i guess yanking out the keyboard ribbon cable isnt the best thign ive ever done. everything came apart and went totgether **** easy untill i got to putting that cable back in :p

it was completley full of dust so i should definetly see an improvement :)
