Laptop overheating

I have an emachines E732 which has been nothing but trouble since I bought it. Recently it's been overheating and I've found that the fan doesn't always start. Can I get a replacement fan and change it myself? There is a flat copper tube that runs from the processor heatsink into the fan. Once I get the fan off, will all that come out and just leave me the fan to change?

Also, I have a few broken keys. Where can I buy the little clips from?

You can change the fan and heatsink, im not sure about the fan on its own.

as for keyboard, it would be cheaper and better for you to track down a new/second hand keyboard.

If it's a bearing/hub type issue some fan assemblies in laptops will open up using a set of watchmakers screwdrivers. That should allow access to the fan so you can pull it off it's hub. You should then be able to get a little grease into it to lubricate.

Have done that with several laptops over the years and has worked on each occasion.

As for the keyboard jonny is right - far simpler to source an affordable replacement and fit it. 2 minute job on most laptops.

try getting the hoover on the grills on the case, my acer 5315 was over heating and switching off until I gave it a quick vac.

Thanks for the replies guys.

The air vents were a little blocked so I have cleared them. At the moment though the fan just doesn't start without a little encouragement.

If I need a cooling assembly and/or keyboard, where can I but these from?
