Laptop performance increase

I'm currently working on my girlfriends Patriot 3005 laptop. The original hard drive (30gb 4200rpm) packed in and i've replaced it with a 60gb 5400rpm drive.

Will this offer any performace increase?

It also only has 256MB DDR333 PC2700 memory, how much performance would I gain from swapping this for 512MB instead?

hd will give a slight improvement, memory much more so although the VIA C3 1.2 cpu in that laptop is very slow in all fairness but it should help a bit.

Thanks, I've just finished installing XP and can tell a difference with the hard drive access speeds, makes me wonder how long the old had been on its way out for.

I've seen memory for a tenner so will probably order some to replace. Do you happen to know if this laptop has one or two memory slots? I cant find any documentation for it on the net

Thanks, just ordered a 512mb stick to replace the 256mb. Hopefully will get a slight performance increase of this combined with the new hard drive
