Laptop Possible screen problem

just on my dads laptop and these seems to be a screen problem at a guess

theres 2 lines and a bar down the middle, one bars yellow the others purple (on this page)

when viewing pictures or anything the "bar" seems to make them distorted and hard to see


could this be a possible loose connection ?

Sounds like a connection or cable at fault, it's been a while but I think some laptops have a ribbon cable that supplies the signal to the screen, might be damaged from wear/tear or it's popped out. Doesn't sound like the screen itself is knackered - are you able to post a picture and model details of the laptop?

EDIT: its on the left hand side of the screen about 2/5's across and maybe 2 inch wide
