I have a fujitsu siemens Li1705...

And, where the power cable plugs in the laptop, this joint has become loose on the mobo, and it is burnt around it, it works when you pull the cable to one side(makes the pin make contact), but this isn't good...!

My question is, i can't find how to dismantle the laptop, and have no success in trying to find it online ANYWHERE!

What would you suggest? Anyone had this laptop, and had to dismantle it? Where could i find this?

Thanks!

those fuji's are horrible, firstly stop using it right now as the main failure for this laptop is due to the socket being physically pushed in and then going up in a puff of smoke/flame when it shorts out on the components behind it

second opening it up should be fairly straight forward I certainly can't remember any problems with it though I can't remember the exact way to do it either :p

I think if you remove all the bottom screws and unplug the wireless antenna cables the plastic strip above the keyboard will then come off allowing you to remove the keyboard/hinge covers and then the screen and you can then remove the top section and get to the board. There might be some screws on the top bit, if there are remove them and there might also be a screw or 2 under the main panel on the base that go through the mobo into the top section that need removing aswell I can't remember if the 1705 has those or not. if your not sure post pics and that should jog my memory

what! don't bin it there are plenty of people who would take it off of you, even with a bummed board they are still very useful for spares

Sorry, didn't literally mean binning, i am breaking, and selling the parts, and am now on the lookout for a new CHEAP laptop.

Any suggestions?

Cheers for your help da ging.

check your charger jack from any sign of broken cable. if your charger jack is good then it's only power jack problem.
