Bascially got a Toshiba Satellite M40 -197 EN give to me for parts after i had been working at it for a mate.

The main problem is the charger and power, i have bought a new jack for it and stripped it and put it in and also a new power supply, both to no avail have worked. :(

It will sometimes get onto the OS and let you use a few things and other time only pass the BIOS and off again , then wait another 20 mins or so before she will tun on again.

What can it be.

Remove the battery from the laptop and run off the mains. When the batteries die on laptops they can cause errors.

I've encountered this quite a lot, although a new battery may be expensive and it's just best to run it without using the power adapter.

Hope this helps
