Just a quicky, due to stepping on the cablemy friend has cracked the inside of her laptops power socket at the back of the unit. It can no longer recharge the battery or power up via the power cable. It's just out of gaurantee, can this be repaired ?

Ok cheers, I dont want to solder it personally, i've never owned a laptop so dont really know what the setup is inisde around the power input.

I've just been given 2 laptops recently with faults ,one a cracked screen and the other the power supply socket has snapped off inside the laptop , wont work and wont charge.I have taken the whole thing apart to get to the motherboard and de-soldered the square plastic socket [with the pin in the middle missing ] and soldered 2 wires [one red [live ] & one black [neutral] and fitted a external socket , re-built it and it's working and chargeing great . I will buy the correct socket and solder the new one in , they sell them on e-b-a-y for under a fiver .The company also has a fitting service too .I thnk they charge about £50 plus P&P and the price of the socket .No need to sling a good laptop out just for this .

this is what I 've done as a tempory measure .......no good spending money on it if the laptop did'nt work .
