Laptop powers off after first screen

Out of the blue my laptop has stopped working.

I turn it on and it gets to the Samsung/intel screen and at the bottom right is a please wait message. After about 5 seconds the laptop powers off and that is it.

I have tried it with the battery, with battery and lead, just with lead, with none of them. I have pressed the power button for 1 minute and then tried it and the same things happened.

I then took the hard drive out and tried it then to see if it could be a HDD issue but the same thing happened.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?

I think the warranty is only a year and it is 20 months old. I cannot believe it would just die, I thought Samsung was a reliable make.

I took the HDD out and tried to read it on my PC using an external HDD adapter so that I can save some key files and it says "HDD needs to be reformatted", it even says that on another Samsung laptop in the house. Any idea why as they are both windows 7?

Usually that's down to the format of the drive OR the external HDD adaptor is broke.

Technology can just die at any moment it's only electronics at the end of the day.

I find it surprising that my laptop would use a format for a windows 7 laptop that cannot be read by another Samsung windows 7 laptop.

Is it the operating system which determines what format can be read or the motherboard?

The adapter is fine.
