Laptop problem, please help !

Hello,

Was on my laptop all day yesterday and it was working fine, sorting out all my media files for media centre. Turned it off at 2am this morning everything fine.

Booted it up this morning and it loads the disk checking program, gets to 19% and screen goes scrambled !

Booted up again and skipped disk check, loads to windows and put my password in. Takes agers to load and when it did was like it had just run a recovery ! none of my icons or programs.

Check the documents folder and my files where still in the folder thank god !

Its a acer laptop just over 1 year old, running windows xp media centre.

Any idea what i can do ?

Hoping i dont have to run a recovery.

How would i go about running chkdsk ?

When i turn the laptop on, get BIOS screen then windows xp logo then it runs a disk checking program and crashs at 19%

I can press any key to skip that disk checking program and boot to windows. I log in with my password and now it says something about profile corrupted ????

Tried to backup my documents folder and laptop crashed again with white screen !
