Got a screwed up laptop. Reinstalled windows xp the other day which took 1hr 25mins! Everything it does takes ages! Thinking the hard drive is screwed so thought i would do a format. Tried today and i either get a BSOD just before formating options or a blank screen (blue screen at start of windows installation/formating is there but only the top left part of screen is there - can tell by white lines) which i could navigate but without seeing it prob not a good idea. Does this sounds like a borked hard drive? How much would you charge to replace a laptop hard drive? I can't do it my self you see. Thanks

It could well be a hard drive on the way out. Does everything else work correctly? Laptop hard drives are generally pretty simple to replace although finicky, probably something in the £20-30 range including reinstalling Windows. :)

Yeah when in Windows, everything seemed fine just SLOW! Found a friend who can do it. Just need to see if it is a IDE or SATA now.
