Laptop Processors

There are two pretty evenly matched laptops which I have my eyes on

One has a Intel Pentium M 770 (2.13GHz)
the other a Intel Core Duo (1.86GHz)

Which would be faster, I'm tempted to say the CoreDuo but would like some confirmation.

i'd take a core duo (even if its not a c2d) over a PM any day..

T'aint a Core2Duo, just the plain ready salted CoreDuo.

Its a very similar price and the CoreDuo one has a marginally better spec so I'll probably go with that.

What is the L2 Cache like on the CoreDuo ? The PM has a 2Meg L2.

The coreDuo is very similar architecture to the mobile C2D, ie they are still kick ass chips. Have a read here: http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2808

Plus a coreduo lappy will be based on a 945gm mobo, which supports all c2d cpus.

My lenovo n100 came with a 2300E, I bought a t5500 off ebay (t7*00 chips still too much) for £50 and it slots straight in.
