Laptop Processors

Please can anyone out there give me some basic advice regarding the processors in laptops.

I am totally out of touch with which of the processors are the better ones to look for- it seemed so much easier years ago .

i.e which are the budget processors in the AMD range and which are the budget ones for Intel- which ones are better i.e is a Turion dual core processor TL60 better than a Centrino or whatever the code are.

Ideally i want a reasonable spec processor and am looking for some advice.
Just looking at the prices does not help me much as they have varying sizes of RAM and HD .

Is there anywhere that explains the hierachy of processors ?

go for a core 2 duo, the higher the number the better, get at least 2gb of ram as well if possible

When looking at the core 2 duo range there are 800mhz FSB and 667mhz FSB versions, personaly I would go for the 800mhz.
