Hey guys,
ok got a little question about laptops. my sis is going to uni this year and shes after a good laptop to see her through the 3/4 years shes gonna be there.
if she was gettin a desktop this would be much easier cos i can put 1 together now, but shes insisting on a laptop and my dads agreed to one.
only catch is i have to find her one and i have no idea where to even start.
shes only really going to use the laptop to surf the internet, use office apps and load her music onto it and probably watch dvds. so it doesnt need to be anything fancy cos she aint gonna be gaming or need high end performance.

the budget ive gotta keep within is £700 at the very tops. software is not a big issue as we'll be getting student licensed versions at a later date.

any help is much appreciated.

From personal use, i feel the Vaio's are the best, but thats because i like widescreen, and watching movies on them. Perhaps you should have a look at the Vaio range in the Laptops section? If they are a bit pricey for what you get, there are a few Acer's which are great specs.

Although, the Vaio there is one which looks pretty decent but not a widescreen:

For that budget, id be tempted to get a DELL. Link below:

Hope that helps.

edit: if you want to keep it minimal, this looks a nice buy: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Acer_Notebooks.html#aLT_2d047_2dAC

Anything with a long warranty will be ideal, 1.4ghz Pentium m 512mb+ and a 80gb hard drive will suffice.

A good warranty for replacements if it goes wrong is a good idea, and also insurance from accidents from a third party provider ;)

Are the Dell Laptops OcUk sell old models for Dell don't seem to list them forsale on their site or do Dell produce different models for non Dell stores like OcUk.
